Why Performance Matters
As the CFO of three companies in NM, I purchased professional services from several different providers. Through those experiences, I promised myself that when I returned to providing professional services I would correct three major deficiencies I believe exist in professional service firms. One, provide pricing for the services that is based on the market. Two, train the professionals providing the services in the management and other topics facing the customers’ industry. Third, ensure that we build an organization of professionals that provide these services as a team.
In meeting those objectives, our clients receive bills based on market – not based on hours multiplied by a “standard rate”, which is not a standard rate! Our professionals receive industry specific training, management and other, this in addition to the technical training as an accountant. Everything we do is team based. One of my favorite John Wooden quotes is “A player who makes a team great is more valuable than a great player. Losing yourself in the group, for the good of the group, that’s teamwork.”
