Pulakos & Alongi Announces Appointment of Tax Manager

ALBUQUERQUE – Pulakos & Alongi, Ltd. (P&A), certified public accountants and consultants, has announced the appointment of Ruth Ann Castellano-Piatt, CPA, as tax manager.
Castellano-Piatt, has 19 years experience in finance and accounting.  In her new position, she is responsible for planning and supervising preparation of individual and corporate tax returns with an emphasis on estate and gift taxation for individuals.

Prior to joining Pulakos & Alongi, Castellano-Piatt’s extensive background includes six years  as a sole practitioner, where she worked with small businesses, tribal entities and not-for-profit organizations.  She provided bookkeeping, preparation of financial statements for representation to boards of directors and tribal councils, and financial consulting.

Castellano-Piatt also served as a financial planning specialist/assurance and consulting senior for a local public accounting firm for more than six years. In that position, she worked with the firm’s clients to develop financial plans and provided tax preparation.

More recently, she was an investment accounting manager with the State of New Mexico and a servicing manager at a large national bank, and was also a representative on the bank’s audit committee and the financial review committee. 

Castellano-Piatt began her career in accounting after returning to college to complete more than 30 hours of accounting courses.  She earlier earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Criminal Justice degree with a minor in accounting from the University of New Mexico.

She has completed the Business Six Sigma Green Belt certification in business process improvement.  She is also a past recipient of numerous awards in banking, including the “Best in Business 2006,” six “Best Practice Awards 2006,” five “Excellence in Action Awards 2006,” two “Leadership Excellence Awards 2006,” and a “Team Excellence Award 2006”.
